Pinspired Challenges #9

Good morning!  I hope everyone's Memorial Day celebrations were most excellent!  I'm coming at you today with another FABULOUS Pinspired Challenge brought to you by a SUPER FUN sponsor--Bossy Joscie Flair!

Joscie (who you'll remember as the winner of Gallery Idol 2012!) makes the most fun, on-trend flair buttons to use on your paper crafts, to wear, and to use as magnets, and has generously offered up a $20 credit to her store so our Pin Perfect winner can grab some flair of her own!  (And you'll remember from Office Space that you don't want to skimp out on flair.  You want to really express yourself.)

Here's the inspiration photo you'll be working with for this challenge:

And here is my take on it:

How fun is that flair button?!  I used lots of different papers from Lawn Fawn's Pink Lemonade line.  (Maybe some Daphne's Closet as well), washi from Freckled Fawn, and some twine from Timeless Twine.

I can't wait to see what you come up with for this challenge!

Lawnscaping DT Call

Ok.  I'm going to be honest.  I did a little backflip inside when I saw that Lawnscaping was having a DT call. I love Lawnscaping.  I love Lawn Fawn.  I love lawnscaping the lawn.  Ok, that last one is a lie.  But I knew I had to throw my hat in the ring for the DT call, as it would be a dream come true for me.  Here's a little smattering of some of the reasons that I think I'd be a good addition to the Lawnscaping team, and some highlights of some of my favorite Lawn Fawn creations. Feel free to play cheesy montage music in your head as you view them.  I won't judge. :)

I'm entering these two new creations into the current Lawnscaping CAS challenge.  I love that little dog's googly eyes.  He has a thing for cute Westies. ;)

I love to think outside the box with Lawn Fawn stamps.  I made this card for a friend who was getting a new tattoo, and googled lots of pics of vintage tattoos to get a feel for the coloring/placement. (And this one earned me a Top Mow it All!)

Keeping with the "outside the box" theme, I also love this card I made to look like a level in the original Super Mario Bros Nintendo game.  Geek out with me for a moment.

I like to go super girly sometimes, too:

I can also do videos, as you can see here:

And last but not least, I'll leave you with this little gem I made last year. ;)

Thanks for considering me, girls. :)

Pinspired Challenges #9

Good morning!  I am so very pumped to be sharing another Pinspired Challenge today, and I hope you are excited about the bold colors and themes in this one!  First things first.  This challenge is sponsored by the fabulous Avery Elle--seriously my favorite source for cardstock for my card bases.  I love a sturdy, thick card base, so their 100# card stock is perfect, and comes in so many bright, beautiful colors.  And their New Moon (black) card stock is my go-to for creating the chalkboard effect.  Their stamps are also classy, fun, and of tremendous quality, and lots of them come with free digital cut files, so I'm all over that.  (No fussy cutting!)  The fine folks at Avery Elle have offered a $15 gift certificate to their store for the winner of this challenge, so you'll definitely want to play along!

Wow.  Gorgeous.  So many elements you could use in your project.  When I saw the image, I immediately thought of a gorgeous Indian theme, with the bright sheer fabrics, gold, and pretty designs.  I'm "sari" (<---- see what I did there?!) that my picture is a little dark, I was having technical difficulties.

I tried to convey the opulence of the photo by using the classy embossed background (made from Avery Elle's Pixie cardstock), and then heat embossed the greeting and frame from Framed Fonts in gold.  Why haven't I used gold embossing powder before?!  I think I'm in love.  I topped it all off with a sheer, shimmery, richly colored ribbon from May Arts.  I can't wait to see what you come with, and which elements of the photo Pinspired you!!

Gossamer Blue and a friendly challenge

Good morning!  Just a quick post between running around--I want to share a layout I made, inspired by a friendly challenge given to me by my dear friend Kristy Lee.  I've been needing to get my scrapping mojo back (lots of cards lately, but not much in the way of layouts!) Kristy and I share a love of music, so she challenged me to make a layout that was one photo, one page, and was all about a favorite song or musical group.  I also had to use a journaling tag, an arrow, a hexagon, stamping in the title, and five patterned papers.   My awesome artist/scrapper extraordinaire friend Venetia also challenged me to make a layout with a photo of myself.  I have to say, I LOVE how this one turned out.  I used my April Gossamer Blue kit, and actually was able to make 3 more layouts with it so far.  Such pretty colors.

If we're talking about a favorite band I couldn't NOT mention the greatest group of all time.  Blackbird is my favorite Beatles song, and has lots of fond memories attached to it.

I'll be sharing my other layouts soon. It feels great to sit down and make some layouts just for fun!

Ribbon Carousel Challenge: Celebrations!

Since Ribbon Carousel is celebrating their birthday month, the theme for May's challenge is "Celebrations!".  Because we live in the Midwest, and are in our early just barely 30's, it seems like there is always a new baby to celebrate, so I made this card to go along with a baby gift and meal that I have the pleasure to deliver to some new parents!

Teal is such a hot color right now, and it has ALWAYS been one of my favorites--so I had to break it out for this new baby boy card.  Pair it with the yellow, and it's so sunshiney, and will stand out from all of the baby blue schtuff she'll be getting.

Go play along with Ribbon Carousel this month--the winner of the challenge will receive a Ribbon Carousel! I can't wait to see what you create!

Kiwi Lane Designs May Blog Hop and fabric flower tutorial!

If you are looking for my Pinspired Challenges/Crafter's Companion USA, or Ribbon Carousel blog hop posts, just scroll down.  Then come back here and check out this fabulous post--it's good, I promise.  *winkwink*

I am so very excited to be showcasing a fun project using Kiwi Lane Designs templates today!!  You should have arrived here via the (super amazingly talented) Jana Eubank. If you get lost along the way, no worries!  Just go here to get the full list of stops.  Be sure to check out all of the stops on the hop, and leave comments along the way--Kiwi Lane Designs will be awarding one lucky commenter a $25 gift certificate to their online store, so you can get some designer templates of your own!  How awesome is that?!  And, as an added bonus, I'll be giving away 4 6x6 pads here on my blog as well.  All you have to do is become a follower of my blog (over on the right column, it'll say "follow me") and leave a comment on this post saying so.  I'll draw a random name from the comments section and send you 4 pads of gorgeous paper goodness.

I was given the super cute Scallops set to work with, and had a fun time thinking outside the box putting this project together.  I had just bought a cute jean jacket for my baby girl, but I didn't like the little flower brooch that came sewed onto it, so I took it off and made my own! If you know me, you know that I don't sew unless I'm forced to, (hot glue all the way, baby!) but using the templates made these flowers come together so quickly and beautifully, so I'll break my no-sew rule this time.  :)

You'll need the Scallops templates, some strips of scrap fabric,  a circle of felt (about 1.5" in diameter), a needle and thread, hot glue gun, and a button or brad.  (I bet you have most of that in your craft space already!) If you are concerned about fraying, or you will be washing the flower, just iron on some interfacing the the back of the material first, or use a product like Fray Check.

Be sure to leave a comment on this post for a chance at the Kiwi Lane prize, and the 6x6 paper pad bundle I'm giving away, then....

Your next stop on the hop is the awesome Jennifer Budge!!

Here's what I created using the Floral Corners from the Sheena's A Little Bit Floral collection.  I rarely use rubber stamps, so when I do I am always impressed with the clean impression they give.

I was inspired by the bright floral colors in the pinspiration photo, and the colored pencils in the image inspired me to break out another artistic medium that I rarely use--my watercolors!

Now, I can't wait to see what YOU come up with for this challenge, and a shot at the Crafter's Companion USA gift certificate!  Head over to the Pinspired blog to find the blog hop post, and link up your project using the Inlinkz tool.  You have until May 5th to play along!  Next stop is Kendra!!
